John M. Owens, M.D., F.A.A.O.S.

Dr. John Owens is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee, spine surgery, as well as general orthopedics.

 

Dr. Owens graduated from Columbia University, School of Engineering and Applied Science in New York, with a BS in Chemical Engineering.  He then obtained his Medical Degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY.  Subsequently, he went on to complete a research fellowship at New York Orthopaedic Hospital/Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.  

 

Following his fellowship, he completed his internship and orthopaedic residency at New York Orthopaedic Hospital/Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

 

Dr. Owens is active in the community.  He is currently the school physician for Tenafly Public schools, a position he has held since 1996.  He is also currently a Clinical Advisor for the American Medical Athletic Association and was a previous committee member for the Strategic Health Initiative on Exercise in Aging, American College of Sports Medicine, Office of Research and Development.

 

Dr. Owens is former acting Chief of orthopaedics at Englewood hospital.  He held this position for 6 years.

 

Dr. Owens was recently selected and featured in 201 magazine as a “Top Doc” in Bergen County.

 

Dr. Owens is an avid runner.  He has completed over 50 marathons both nationally and abroad.  His most recent accomplishment was completeing the 2013 Dublin marathon and 6 days later, finishing the 2013 NYC Marathon.  He also enjoys cycling and recently completed the Gran Fondo NY and Grand Fondo NJ.
