Dr Owens took part in a medical mission to Honduras the week of January 29th to February 3rd. He worked with a group of 10 physicians sponsored by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Tenafly. He and his group were able to provide general medical care to over 1200 people in underserved, indigent communities in the mountainous region of Intibuca, Honduras. He and his team worked closely with Father Alfredo at St Lucy’s Parish in Yamaranguila who helped identify locations that would benefit from their medical care. They spent 5 days at 4 different locations. Services included treatment of everything from pulmonary conditions, high blood pressure and diabetes to wound care and broken bones. They received warm hugs and embraces of appreciation from adults and children alike. In addition to medical care, their outreach was humanitarian, delivering love and hope to remote areas. Their goal was to not just help these communities survive but one day thrive!

Dr. Owens said “These trips are inspirational, adventuresome and extremely gratifying. It is an experience I will never forget.”
